We are proud to support residents to pursue their personal goals and passions. Recently, Jacqueline Bryan, who lives at Beckdale House in Sale, Manchester, reconnected with her lifelong love of animals during a special trip that marks an important step towards her goal of riding a horse again.
Jacqueline’s day began at Wythenshawe Community Farm, where she enjoyed meeting goats, lambs and chickens, spending time stroking the baby goats and soaking up the calm, rural atmosphere.
The day continued with a visit to a private stable in Northwich, where Jacqueline met Oscar, a five-year-old Irish Draught cross owned by a Beckdale House support worker. Jacqueline spent time brushing Oscar, walking him around the track and feeding him treats, enjoying plenty of cuddles with her new equine friend.
For Jacqueline, the experience was far more than a day out. Having grown up riding horses, the visit represented a personal milestone in rebuilding her confidence and rediscovering a passion that has always meant a great deal to her.
Deputy manager Charley Ashton said: “This is exactly the kind of outcome we love to see, Jacqueline working towards a personal dream and making such positive steps. Activities like this are all about supporting independence and enabling people to do the things they love, and we’re very proud of Jacqueline.”
Jacqueline plans to visit Oscar weekly with her support worker and will continue working towards her goal of getting back in the saddle.
