Milewood strengthens communication across national workforce with new digital platform

Milewood, which operates more than 50 services for adults with disabilities in England, has invested in a new employee communication platform to better connect colleagues working across its portfolio and provide a single place to access important information, news and documentation.

The specialist care provider has introduced Staffbase, described as the first AI-native Employee Experience Platform, as part of its continued investment in its workforce and the systems that support colleagues in delivering high-quality care.

The new platform, Milewood Connect, brings together internal communications, key documents and updates in one easily accessible place, helping to ensure colleagues have the information they need wherever they are based.

Teams working within Milewood’s services can use the platform to share news, activities, achievements and examples of what is happening within their homes, allowing colleagues elsewhere in the organisation to see and engage with their work.

At the same time, Milewood’s central support functions can use the platform to share important company information, policies, guidance and documentation, creating a single source of information for colleagues.

Martyn Heginbotham, chief executive of Milewood, said: “With colleagues working in services across the country, effective communication is incredibly important to us. We want everyone at Milewood to feel connected to the wider organisation, regardless of where they work or what their role involves.

“Milewood Connect gives colleagues one place to access everything they need, from company news and updates to policies, procedures, documents, training resources, and team communications.

“One of the things I am particularly pleased about is the opportunity it gives our services to communicate with each other. There is a huge amount happening every day across Milewood and our teams have so many achievements, activities and ideas to share. This platform means a colleague in one part of the country can see what another service is doing, celebrate their successes and potentially take inspiration from them.

“It also gives our central teams a much more effective way of making sure important information is available and easy to find. Ultimately, better communication helps create a stronger organisation and a more connected workforce, and that benefits both our colleagues and the people we support.”

Kevin Hähnlein, Head of Marketing and Strategic Advisory, Staffbase: “Care doesn’t happen at a desk. It happens across more than 50 services, every hour of the day, which makes reaching every colleague genuinely hard. That’s exactly what Milewood Connect gives them – a single source of truth every colleague can trust, wherever they work. It gives everyone one simple place to stay informed, find what they need and see the great work happening in other services. We’re proud to help Milewood connect a workforce doing such important work.”
