A team of outstanding female leaders from Milewood has been recognised on the national stage after winning the Girl Power Team Award at the prestigious Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care (WAGS) Awards.
The accolade was presented to Leonne Ridsdale, registered manager at Parkview and Rowan House in Scarborough, Clare Tomlinson the deputy manager and their regional manager Samantha Hunt. The judges praised the trio for their collaborative leadership, dedication to high-quality support, and commitment to empowering both colleagues and the people they support.
The national WAGS Awards celebrate exceptional accomplishments by women at all levels of leadership across the social care sector, including services for older people, people with learning disabilities and/or autism, and children, young people and families.
The Girl Power Team Award highlights the strength of female leadership within the sector and acknowledges the positive impact the team has made on the people they support.
Samantha Hunt, regional manager at Milewood, said: “Leonne, Clare and I are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Girl Power (Teams) award. For us to be nominated at such a prestigious event was an honour in itself, but to bring home the award for 2025 is truly special, it is still sinking in. This recognition is a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and commitment shown every day in achieving the best possible outcomes for the people we support. It also highlights the incredible efforts of the teams across both Parkview and Rowan House, whose passion and commitment everyday continue to make a real difference.”
Martyn Heginbotham, chief executive of Milewood, added: “This is a fantastic achievement and one that truly embodies the spirit of Milewood. Samantha, Leonne and Clare demonstrate outstanding leadership, teamwork and compassion. Their commitment to empowering colleagues and delivering exceptional support makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives and we are delighted to see them celebrated at such an important national event.”
