Kate Smith, registered manager at York Supported Living, and Steven Dakin, service manager at the same service, have both been honoured at the second annual Milewood Awards, receiving national recognition for their exceptional leadership.
Kate Smith was celebrated for her outstanding contribution and strong leadership as registered manager, while Steven Dakin was highly commended in the ‘Up and Coming Leader’ category, highlighting his growth and dedication in a developing leadership role. Together, their achievements reflect the strength, commitment, and compassionate culture at York Supported Living.
York Supported Living provides personalised support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and a range of additional needs, helping people to build their independence and enjoy meaningful, active lives within their local community. The service is part of Milewood Healthcare Ltd, a national provider of specialist living services across England.
Speaking about the recognition, Kate said: “It means a lot to be acknowledged in this way. York Supported Living is a very special service, and I am incredibly proud of the team who work so hard to ensure the people we support can thrive. This recognition reflects all of us and the passion we share for delivering truly person?centred care.”
Steven expressed his pride at receiving the commendation, adding: “Being highly commended as an up-and-coming leader is a huge honour. I’m grateful for the guidance and support I’ve received from Kate and the wider team. Supporting our residents to grow in confidence and independence is what drives me, and I’m excited to continue developing in my role.”
