Chris Smith, a support worker at Rowan House in Scarborough, has been named ‘Positive Role Model of the Year’ at the second annual Milewood Awards.
Chris, who has become a highly respected and much?loved member of the Rowan House team, has made an exceptional impact on both colleagues and the people he supports. His steady presence and ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships have quickly established him as someone others look up to. Residents consistently speak of his kindness and genuine commitment to helping them live fulfilling and independent lives.
Rowan House is a warm, community?focused residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and a range of additional needs. The team places strong emphasis on person?centred care, promoting independence, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement in everyday life. Rowan House is operated by Milewood Healthcare Ltd, a national provider of specialist living services for adults with disabilities.
Speaking after receiving the award, Chris said: “I’m incredibly honoured to have been recognised in this way. Supporting our residents is something I’m truly passionate about, and I feel very lucky to work alongside such an encouraging and dedicated team at Rowan House.
“Everything we do is about making a real difference to people’s lives, and I’m proud to play a part in that.”
