Vincent House, a Milewood service in Redcar providing care for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, has reopened after a £100,000 refurbishment.
The extensive project has transformed the facility into a modern space designed to meet residents’ needs and create a welcoming environment.
Previously divided into separate units, the service has been consolidated into a single cohesive home six-bedroom home. The refurbishment included the addition of en-suite bathrooms, a new lounge and kitchen, and updated décor throughout. Residents were actively involved in the redesign process, selecting colours and contributing to the overall design, ensuring the space reflects their preferences.
Martyn Heginbotham, chief executive of Milewood, said: “This refurbishment represents a major investment in creating a better environment for those who live here. It’s been wonderful to see residents take an active role in shaping their home. The changes will enhance their quality of life and provide them with spaces that feel safe and welcoming.”
Vincent House accommodates six residents, designed to promote community and comfort. The upgrades have brought vibrancy to the home, with improved facilities and a layout that better supports the daily lives of residents.
Victoria Webster, manager of Vincent House, said: “The new facilities have been a fantastic improvement. Residents now have en-suite rooms and comfortable communal areas that suit their needs. The feedback has been incredibly positive, and it’s rewarding to see the difference it makes to their day-to-day lives.”
The care at Vincent House focuses on promoting independence and personal choice, with support tailored to each resident. Regular activities, outings, and opportunities for residents to participate in decision-making about the home are all part of the service’s ethos.
The refurbishment has also been welcomed by visitors, including commissioners and social workers, as an example of high-quality care and thoughtfully designed environments.
