New manager at Beechwood in Chesterfield

Emma Crouch has been appointed as manager at Beechwood in Chesterfield, part of Milewood.

Emma brings 16 years’ experience in health and social care, having begun her career as a care support worker in community care, supporting people in their own homes while completing her Level 2 NVQ. She later moved into residential care, working with adults with learning disabilities.

Since joining Milewood in 2018, she has progressed steadily through the organisation, starting as a care support worker, before being promoted to team leader within months. In 2023 Emma stepped into the role of deputy manager after completing her Level 3 NVQ and is currently working towards her Level 5 qualification.

Since starting at Beechwood, she has focused on building strong, positive relationships with both the people supported and the staff team, underpinned by Milewood’s values and commitment to person-centred care.

Beechwood supports adults with learning disabilities, providing person-centred care in a welcoming and supportive environment, with a strong focus on communication, dignity and positive outcomes.

Emma Crouch said: “I started my career in care 16 years ago supporting people in their own homes, and throughout my journey I’ve always been driven by the importance of empathy, communication and truly understanding the individual. Working for a supportive company like Milewood has allowed me to progress professionally and grow as a person.

“At Beechwood, we have a strong and committed team who work together to achieve positive outcomes and live the Milewood values every day. It’s a warm, friendly environment, full of smiles, and I find the interaction with both the people we support and the staff team the most rewarding part of being a registered manager.

“Good care and support come from detailed care planning and making sure we follow this consistently. That includes using each person’s preferred method of communication, whether that’s through body language, facial expressions or clear verbal communication, and always in the right environment for them.”

Martyn Heginbotham, chief executive of Milewood, added: “Emma’s journey with Milewood is a fantastic example of how we support and develop our people. Her commitment, leadership and values-led approach make her an excellent fit for Beechwood, and I am confident she will continue to build a positive, supportive and high-quality service for everyone who lives and works there.”
