Milewood Norton service users run for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice

Three service users from Milewood’s Norton Scheme took part in the Middlesbrough 3K Fun Run to raise money for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.

Darren, Liam and Eric were supported by staff Courtney, Aston, Cameron and Rachael to join around 1,500 runners in Centre Square, the heart of Middlesbrough town centre for the event, which is organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, in partnership with Everyone Active and Middlesbrough Council

Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice provides care for babies and young children, aged from birth to five years, who suffer from complex illnesses or disabilities. The hospice works to ensure these children enjoy the highest possible quality of life, while offering support to their families. Zoe’s Place operates three children’s hospices in Middlesbrough, Coventry, Liverpool, and, providing respite, palliative, and end-of-life care, as well as play therapies and activities.

As a charity, Zoe’s Place offers its services free of charge to families, relying on public donations to continue its work.

Milewood Healthcare’s locality manager, Gerard Devine, said: “We are proud to be part of the local community and to empower our service users to get involved. We were delighted to raise £145 for the Hospice, and beyond proud of Darren, Liam and Eric who were brilliant and Courtney, Aston, Cameron and Rachael who wupported them to take part. Well done to you all!”
