Residents at Greenwood Lodge in Bunny, Nottingham, have been rolling up their sleeves to make a difference in their local area. As part of a community-led initiative, the individuals living at the service, which is part of Milewood Individual Care and Support, organised and took part in a village litter pick, showing their pride and commitment to the place they call home.
Equipped with hi-vis jackets, litter pickers and bin bags, the group spent the afternoon collecting rubbish from around the village, working together to make Bunny a cleaner, greener place for everyone. Their efforts were met with smiles and encouragement from local passers-by, who praised the group’s dedication to the environment and to keeping the village looking its best.
The idea for the litter pick came from the residents themselves, who are supported to live independently and take part in meaningful activities that connect them with their community.
Marius Rahozneanu, registered manager at Greenwood Lodge, said: “It was wonderful to see the people we support taking such pride in their village. They wanted to give something back and be part of looking after the area. We always encourage individuals to get involved in the local community, and this was a great example of how small actions can have a big impact. Everyone enjoyed it – and we’re already planning the next one!”
