Experienced care sector manager joins Manchester residential service

Kim Douglas has been appointed as the new manager at Beckdale House, in Sale, part of Milewood’s network of services for adults with disabilities.

Kim brings more than 13 years of experience in the care sector, most recently from a brain rehabilitation unit, where she developed skills that will enhance Beckdale House’s commitment to high-quality, person-centered care.

Starting her career in residential care at just 18, Kim balanced her early work with studying criminology at university. However, she quickly realised that social care was her true calling and shifted her focus entirely to advancing in the sector.

She has since achieved a Level 5 NVQ in social care and management, steadily rising through the ranks to take on managerial responsibilities.

Beckdale House, which supports up to nine individuals, offers a supportive environment that encourages residents’ independence and engagement within the local community.

Kim Douglas said: “Joining Beckdale House has been a fantastic experience.

“I love that it’s a smaller service where I can provide more personal care and get to know each resident individually. There’s a warmth and closeness here that’s very special, and I’m grateful to work alongside such a dedicated team.”

Martyn Heginbotham, chief executive of Milewood, said “We’re delighted to welcome Kim to the Milewood family. Her dedication to personalised care and her wealth of experience align perfectly with our mission to provide residents with the highest standard of support in an inclusive community setting.”
